Cluster Architecture
In Kubernetes, a cluster is a set of machines (also called nodes) that are used to run containerized applications. The basic architecture of a Kubernetes cluster consists of a set of worker nodes and a control plane.
Workloads and Storage
Workloads are the primary objects that are used to manage the running of applications in a Kubernetes cluster. There are several types of workloads, including Deployments, which manage the deployment and scaling of applications, and StatefulSets, which are used to manage the deployment and scaling of stateful applications. Kubernetes supports a number of different types of storage, including local storage on nodes, network-attached storage (NAS), and cloud-based storage solutions. Storage can be provisioned and managed using persistent volumes and persistent volume claims.
Services and Networking
Services are used to expose applications running on a cluster to the outside world, and to provide load balancing and failover for those applications. Networking in Kubernetes is managed using pods and network policies, which control the communication between pods and between pods and services.
Administration and Troubleshooting
Kubernetes includes a number of tools and features for administering and troubleshooting a cluster, including the kubectl command-line interface (CLI), which is used to manage and monitor the cluster, and the Kubernetes dashboard, which provides a web-based interface for managing and monitoring the cluster.
