About the Go (coding): entry-level algorithms test

The Go coding test evaluates candidates' basic programming skills by requiring them to program a simple algorithm in Golang. This straightforward coding task is designed to identify developers with essential Go skills. Go, also known as Golang, is an open-source programming language that was created by Google and various contributors in 2009. It was designed to simplify the software development process, especially for apps that require complex architecture. Some of the biggest names in tech, such as Google, Apple, Facebook, the New York Times, and the BBC, have shifted to Go for their software apps. For junior programmers who will be working on projects using Golang, having a strong foundational knowledge of the language is essential. Candidates who understand the basics of programming in Go will be able to hit the ground running and set themselves up for further professional growth. The Go coding test evaluates a candidate's ability to program a simple algorithm in Golang and tests their basic programming skills. Candidates are given 15 minutes to complete a straightforward coding task involving entry-level algorithms, which is then evaluated against a set of test cases. Some of these cases are made available to the candidate to determine if they are on the right track. This is a great initial screening test that allows you to effectively screen candidates based on actual Go programming skills. For more challenging coding challenges, a Go debugging test or other Go coding tests at intermediate or advanced levels can be considered. We recommend combining coding tests with at least one of our cognitive ability tests that evaluate numerical or analytical skills for a more comprehensive evaluation of a candidate's capabilities.

Entry-level algorithm

In Go coding, entry-level algorithms cover fundamental concepts such as sorting, searching, and data manipulation. These skills are crucial for writing efficient and optimized code, as they help developers solve common problems in software development. Understanding entry-level algorithms also lays the foundation for more complex algorithms and data structures, making it easier to tackle more advanced programming challenges. By mastering these basic algorithms, developers can improve their problem-solving abilities and write more efficient code, ultimately leading to better software development practices.

The Go (coding): entry-level algorithms test is created by a subject-matter expert

Testlify’s skill tests are designed by experienced SMEs (subject matter experts). We evaluate these experts based on specific metrics such as expertise, capability, and their market reputation. Prior to being published, each skill test is peer-reviewed by other experts and then calibrated based on insights derived from a significant number of test-takers who are well-versed in that skill area. Our inherent feedback systems and built-in algorithms enable our SMEs to refine our tests continually.
