Listening is the ability to understand spoken language. In the context of learning Spanish at the A1 level, this would involve being able to recognize and understand basic words and phrases when they are spoken by a native speaker of Spanish.
Use of the Spanish (Basic/A1) Test
Employees who can speak Spanish and hold the conversation for around five minutes in a time range that can be based on their vocabulary and writing proficiency.

They are expected to know grammar, Present Tense verb conjugations, listen plus comprehend short advertisements and notices, focus on day-to-day life events and occurrences of the routine, and basic information about themselves and their families, shopping, places of interest, work, etc. They should be able to communicate using the language in a basic way in situations with immediate needs or everyday situations.
