Challenge
Ditto hires advisors and support agents in volume. The job needs reading comprehension, numeracy, scenario judgment and clear communication, and none of that shows up on a resume or in a 30-minute interview.
Solution
Ditto built a four-section assessment in Testlify covering comprehension and applied numeracy, scenario reasoning, judgment, and in-test learning.
Outcome
A reusable four-section screening program built from 14 custom question libraries across nine response formats, with randomized question sets, section-level timing, and negative marking to standardize advisory hiring.

Built by the team behind Finshots, Ditto Insurance provides commission-free insurance advice through IRDAI-certified advisors. As the company expanded across advisory and support functions, it needed a consistent way to identify candidates with the reasoning and communication skills the role demands.
Hiring for advisory skills, not interview performance
That advisory-first promise puts unusual weight on who Ditto hires. An advisor has to read dense policy detail, handle applied numeracy, reason through a real customer's situation, and use sound judgment, all without a sales incentive nudging the answer. Resumes reveal little about those abilities, and interviews alone make it difficult to evaluate them consistently. As Ditto hired advisors and support agents in volume, it needed one reliable way to measure the skills the job actually turns on.
A screening program built around the job, not the resume
Rather than a generic aptitude test, Ditto worked with Testlify to build a screening program shaped like the role itself. Its custom assessment runs in four sections: Comprehension and Applied Numeracy, Scenario-Based Reasoning, Judgment, and In-Test Learning, so a candidate is measured on reading policy detail, doing the maths, working through a customer scenario, and applying something they have just been taught. Testlify's engineering team configured randomized question sets across those sections with section-level timing, which means every applicant sits an equivalent, integrity-protected test rather than a lucky draw.
Because the questions span nine formats, from single-select and numeric to written, scenario, and video responses, the program helps evaluate how candidates reason and communicate, not just what they can recognize. Testlify also configured question-level scoring with negative marking to discourage guessing and better reflect real-world decision-making. In total, Ditto combined 14 custom question libraries into one reusable screening standard that recruiters can apply consistently across advisory and support hiring.
Scaling a consistent hiring standard
The program now serves as Ditto's standardized screening process for advisory and support hiring. It has invited 2,019 candidates and seen 1,023 complete, with candidates logging roughly 159,000 responses across nine formats. Its main aptitude assessment alone drew 662 candidates and held a 71% completion rate, a strong finish for a demanding, multi-section test
The clearest sign the approach is working is that Ditto keeps building on it. The company renewed into a second year and is now connecting Testlify to its Zappyhire ATS, so assessment results flow straight into the hiring workflow. What began as a custom assessment has become a repeatable screening standard that helps Ditto evaluate every advisory candidate against the same hiring criteria.
