Details
When a resume cannot tell you whether someone understands genomics, you have a hiring problem
Agilisium is a data and engineering consultancy focused on life science, pharma, and industries, based in Los Angeles. The roles they hire for require rare, highly specific technical expertise in areas like AI, genomics, and data infrastructure. Finding the right people quickly, without sacrificing accuracy, was a problem their existing hiring process could not solve.
Agilisium builds data and engineering solutions for some of the most technically complex industries in the world. A consultant working on a genomics platform or an AI pipeline for a pharmaceutical client needs to know the domain deeply. The work is project-driven, the timelines are tight, and the cost of putting someone technically underqualified on a client engagement is immediate and visible.
Their hiring process was not built for that level of specificity. Screening a candidate for expertise in data infrastructure or genomics through a resume review and a phone call left the team guessing. Different hiring managers applied different standards, which introduced variability in who moved forward and who did not. The process was also slow, which mattered in a talent market where strong candidates in these disciplines do not stay available for long.
The result was a hiring function that consumed significant recruiter and technical lead time while still producing inconsistent outcomes. Project delivery timelines were affected when roles took too long to fill or the wrong hire had to be replaced.
“We were spending hours trying to evaluate technical depth through conversations that could not actually test it. We needed a way to know, before the interview, whether a candidate was genuinely qualified.”

How Testlify was implemented
Role-specific technical assessments built with the people who knew the work best
Agilisium worked directly with Testlify to design assessments for each technical discipline they hired for. That meant separate tests for data analytics roles, AI engineering positions, and genomics-focused functions, each built around the actual skills and knowledge those projects required. Testlify worked with both HR and technical leads at Agilisium to make sure the questions reflected what strong performance in each role genuinely looked like, not a generic technical quiz.
Automated screening meant candidates completed assessments before any recruiter or technical lead invested time in them. Only candidates who cleared the technical bar moved forward, which freed the hiring team to focus on depth and fit during interviews rather than using interview time to verify basic competency.
Standardized scoring removed the variability that had made hiring outcomes inconsistent across teams. Every candidate was evaluated against the same criteria, which made comparisons cleaner and gave the hiring team confidence that decisions were based on performance, not on how well someone interviewed.
“For the first time, we could filter on actual technical ability before getting on a call. The candidates who came through were genuinely qualified, and our project teams noticed the difference.”
